Toronto Metropolitan University student wins the 2024 Minerva Rising Star award
Aliakbar Eslamibaladeh, a recent PhD graduate and researcher at the Toronto Metropolitan University’s Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, was announced winner of the 2024 Minerva Rising Star Award at the October 10th Canada’s Safest Employers Awards dinner. His passion in Safety Engineering fueled his desire to pursue advanced studies focused on mastering dedicated safety design procedures and critical safety systems. His winning submission described one of his projects for a company within the energy sector. Congratulations Aliakbar. Details and invitations will be sent out shortly.
Minerva launches its 2024 Case Study competition
Minerva is pleased to partner with the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC), Service Hospitality and the Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) in launching its 2024 case study competition. It’s open to all post secondary students in Canada as well as graduates from Canadian universities and colleges in the last 2 years and now in the workplace. The rules, regulations and case study for this competition are shown here.
Registration and submission of responses to the case study for the competition shall be done online through the CIAC.
Submissions are due by December 20, 2024. Winners will be announced at the CBoC conference in February 2025.
September 26th Webinar on Worker Well-Being well attended and a huge success
Minerva’s well attended webinar program in partnership with the Conference Board of Canada continues again in 2024 with the theme of Worker Well-Being and how it impacts on Workplace Health and Safety. Information and a recording from our recent webinar on September 26th can be found here. Plans are underway with a fourth webinar involving some of our finalists from our 2024 Rising Star competition.
New Minerva Management Certificate Online Courses
Development of four new management certificate online Health and Safety courses is underway. A basic and advanced course will be available for managers, supervisors as well as for safety practitioners. Courses will include some of Minerva’s existing modules as well as three new modules on Professional Ethics and Conduct, Effective Communications and Employee Engagement, Effective Committees. Courses will be launched in Q1 2025 and available on the Bluedrop Skills Pass platform.
Sign In on the Minerva storefront to access Minerva’s online Health and Safety courses
Interested students, professional association members, and employees whose school or organization does not have a Minerva licensing agreement can now access the four Minerva online courses and its introductory course online – see here for listing of all the courses and its modules.
The process is simple to register for the training – select the course, create an account and pay online, and then start training at your own time and convenience. A certificate is issued upon completion of the training. More details on course fees, discounts, and registration can be found here.
Minerva’s financial sponsors are provided with free access to the courses for a certain number of their employees.

Health and Safety Professionals Canada partners with Minerva Canada
Minerva Canada is pleased to partner with the Health and Safety Professionals Canada (HSPC) in delivering its online Health and Safety courses to its members. See here for more details and how to register. HSPC members will receive a 20% discount on all courses and receive the fourth course free if they decide to work for the H&S certificate by successfully completing all four courses. HSPC members interested in registering for a course should email helpdesk@csse.org to receive their exclusive discount code. Non-HSPC members can also register for the online courses..
